Safety Study for Intersection of Lorain Avenue, Colesville Road

Many of you may have noticed that there is a dangerous situation occurring regularly at the intersection of Lorain Avenue and Colesville Road.  Cars turning left out of our neighborhood onto Colesville Road north have to cross three lanes of traffic and maneuver around other cars turning left onto Lorain, as well as southbound cars turning left into the Woodmoor side of Lorain.

If it sounds confusing, it’s because it is, and quite dangerous.  I have witnessed many accidents and near accidents at this intersection.  In response, the Board of NFCCA has decided to ask the Montgomery County Department of Transportation and the State Highway Administration to conduct a study and recommend ways of making this intersection more safe.  We will keep you posted on their response.
