Stories from the NFCCA Newsletter, the “Northwood News” |
Hello to all. My name is Brian Morrissey. My wife Fiona and I joined this welcoming community in 2005. You may have seen me at a civic association event: Lockridge Creek Cleanup (I’m the one waist-deep in the creek!), Neighborhood Night Out, or perhaps at the Rachel Carson Meadow Festival. Maybe our paths have crossed at the Northwood Four Corners Park (at the end of Southwood). I am often seen picking up trash, pulling invasive plants, or just walking my little dogs, Cosy and Apple (the two cutest dogs on the planet). I run a small Home Remodeling Handyman Services Company from my home.
I have taken the time to tell you a little about myself because of the relocation of Laura Hussey, our former civic association president. I have ascended to the throne, so to speak. Although my preference is to be a good indian rather than the chief, I embrace this responsibility. I look forward to participating as President (or lesser station) because I see value in a strong community.
We, the members of Northwood Four Corners, are extremely fortunate to have a strong infrastructure for community. First, we have an active civic association which promotes social activities that strengthen neighbor relations and encourages exchange of information. Second, we have an outstanding newsletter which informs, entertains, and sometimes even enlightens. We also have two list serves for information exchange that is too fluid to wait for the next civic association meeting or editor of the Northwood News.
My hope is, whatever duration my time as president, we continue to encourage and enliven participation in both civic association meetings and social events. ■
