Invasive plants cover the huge black walnut tree, shown in both photos here, in North Four Corners Park.
Why not get up to “Rachel Carson Meadow,” as the new section of North Four Corners Park has been dubbed, and take a look at the gigantic, 175-year-old black walnut tree now that Brian Morrissey has cleared away the invasive plants smothering it.
The Park Service, it seems, doesn’t have the money or staff to care for plants or collect trash, but when someone built a sign nicknaming the new section “Rachel Carson Meadow,” Park Service staff were there within a month to dismantle and remove it.
