Stories from the NFCCA Newsletter, the “Northwood News” |
At the February NFCCA meeting, members voted to sign on to the Coalition to Return Trash Cans to our Parks. One resident also volunteered to distribute petitions. We are still waiting, however, for MNCPPC to release its review of the carry-in, carry-out policy. (The report was supposed to be released in January.) Hopefully we will have an update for the April NFCCA meeting. In the meantime, if you would like to help with petitions or of you want more information, contact me.
We are also waiting for official word on the park planning process for North Four Corners Park. At the end of February, planner Heidi Sussman told me she thought the plan might go to the Planning Board this June. I reminded her that they had committed to come back to the community first, and that the Association goes into summer hiatus after the June meeting. Meanwhile, we are continuing to try and build support for our position among other civic associations and organizations.
Currently, the MNCPPC budget is undergoing review. You can accesss the draft budget from the agency’s website, montgomeryplanning.org/. I raised both park issues at the public input session and the draft budget release. The County Council will hold public hearings on the budget in early April and we will report on this at the April meeting.
