Jim Zepp First Recipient of ‘Good Neighbor’ Award

By Laura Hussey

At the October 2017 member meeting, the NFCCA presented Jim Zepp with an award recognizing his significant contributions to the neighborhood over the past quarter century.  Zepp has a passion for civic affairs that is well-known and has devoted countless hours, days, and evenings to advocating for the neighborhood on dozens of issues with potential impacts to the quality of life in our neighborhood and in the county.  He has also led and played a key role in efforts within the neighborhood to create a strong sense of community and collective sense of responsibility for our neighborhood.

Among Jim’s many contributions, he organized NFCCA’s first participation in National Night Out (NNO) and many subsequent NNO celebrations in the neighborhood.

Zepp is a past president of NFCCA and is currently president of the Montgomery County Civic Federation, an organization of civic associations (including NFCCA) in the county.  In accepting the award, Zepp spoke about his belief in the importance of a strong community to our quality of life.

This is the first such award NFCCA has given in recent memory.  The NFCCA Board has been working to recognize the contributions, large and small, of neighborhood residents who make our neighborhood a safe, pleasant, and welcoming place to live.   ■
