A Quick Home Energy Checkup (“QHEC”) shows you simple steps that you can take to reduce energy usage in your home and save money. Best of all, it’s free to Pepco customers.
An energy auditor will come to your home and ask about your insulation levels, efficiency of heating and cooling systems, air leakage, windows and doors, lighting and appliances, and water heating equipment. After completing this assessment, the energy auditor may install free energy- and water-saving measures for you, such as compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), tank or pipe wrap for your hot water heater, faucet aerators, power strips, and a low-flow showerhead.
Disclaimer: A QHEC is not a comprehensive home energy audit, which usually takes three to four hours and costs in the neighborhood of $400.
To schedule a QHEC, call 1.866.353.5798 or go to homeenergysavings.pepco.com. ■
