Stories from the NFCCA Newsletter, the “Northwood News” |
As a way to highlight the natural resources within our communities, Conservation Montgomery sponsors “strolls” to explore communities and learn how to sustain our local environment. On Saturday, 15 October, our neighborhood will be featured.
The walk will be led by our civic association’s own immediate past president, Carole Barth, who also serves as first vice president of the Montgomery County Civic Federation. Barth — who often writes on environmental issues for the News, including this issue — has her own environmental consulting and landscape design firm, Heal Earth Gardens.
The Community Stroll runs from 10:00 a.m. until noon and starts in front of the North Four Corners recreation center at 211 Southwood Avenue. There’s no cost, but a minimum donation of $5 per person is suggested; children under 13 are welcome, but must be supervised.
Conservation Montgomery, a tax-exempt, nonprofit organzation, is a coalition of civic and environmental organizations and individuals whose mission is to sustain Montgomery County’s quality of life and natural resources through community awareness and sound decision-making. ■
