Stories from the NFCCA Newsletter, the “Northwood News” |
On Tuesday evening, 2 August, more than 100 Northwood-Four Corners residents participated in the National Night Out event in which thousands of communities around the country come together in the spirit of promoting neighborly communications. The idea is that when residents know each other, addressing crime and other community problems will be easier. Police and other local officials visit the National Night Out gatherings to talk with citizens about their concerns. It is also a chance to socialize and have some fun with neighbors. The NFCCA’s celebration was held at the Forest Knolls Community Pool. Music was generously provided by our own neighborhood talents — Tim Arnold, Jeff Pitot de La Beaujardiere, Joe Yanovitch, John Bodkin, Jimi Bunch, Mike Heney, and Mike Amitay. Walter Medrano loaned his snowcone machine. Linda Perlman, Michele Fromme, and Aleks Beltran helped with the potluck dinner/ice cream. Members of the Blue Wave Silver Spring Taekwondo Club — led by resident Greg Knoop — gave a demonstration of their martial arts skills. Along with members of the Montgomery County Police Department and the MNCPPC Park Police, State Senator Roger Manno and State Delegate Ben Kramer visited with residents. ■
