President’s Message

By Brian Morrissey

Congratulations to all of us!  Yet again we made it through another Silver Spring summer.  Blistering heat, an earthquake, a hurricane, a week-long monsoon, and the usual power cuts, uncertainty, and inconvenience....  Let’s hope we’ll enjoy a long, cool, mellow autumn.

In our park, there’s never a dull moment.  The $5 million soccer field for Rachel Carson Meadow is still on the county agenda, the garbage bin beside the rec center has been taken away, the center itself has recently developed another graffiti rash, and the Jiffy-John has been removed, so, once more, we are having to deal with alfresco poopers and urinators.  That’s why we need a good, strong civic association!!  If you’re not a member, please consider joining up.  Remember, as your president, I’m only as good as the people I serve.  Please try and come to our next civic meeting on 12 October at 7:30 p.m. [at Forest Knolls Elementary School off Caddington Avenue].  You will be welcomed with open arms.   ■
