President’s Message

By Carole A. Barth

Here we are preparing for the June Association meeting and the end of another NFCCA year.  It hardly seems possible that the time has flown so quickly.  Still, even though we are officially on hiatus from June until October, there’s a lot going on.  Summer events like the Pool Party (see page 6) and Neighborhood Night Out (see page 9) are opportunities for us to get together as a community and have fun.

The issues we care about, unfortunately, do not take a summer vacation, so we have to be alert and respond as best we can over the summer.  Please join the NFCCA listserv, so we can keep you up-to-date while the newsletter editor gets a well-earned rest.  This is also the time of year we need to put together a slate of candidates for the 2007-2008 NFCCA Board, so if you’ve ever thought about getting more involved, now’s your chance.

Of course you don’t have to become a Board member to be involved.  You can participate in events like the creek cleanup and the neighborhood yard sale or even help organize an event.  In fact, if there’s something you’d like to see become a new neighborhood event or project (Frog Fest?  Fun Run?  Holiday Decoration Award?  Neighborhood Directory?), we’d love to help you give it a try.

One very important thing everyone can do is to be sure you paid your membership dues for this year.  Dues enable NFCCA to pay for events, but, more importantly, as a member, you can vote.  It is your votes that determine what positions and actions we take as a civic association.  We will be happy to accept your dues at the June meeting, or you can give them to any Board member if you are unable to attend on the 13th.

Once again, I want to thank the Board for their stellar work this year.  Have a wonderful summer!   ■
