It’s time for our annual spring cleanup of Lockridge Creek. This year will be our 15th cleanup! Lockridge Creek flows into Northwest Branch. The Northwest Branch and the Northeast Branch join together at Bladensburg to form the Anacostia River.
Scheduled for Saturday, 16 April, our cleanup coincides with the regional Anacostia River Earth Day Cleanup and Celebration. Join us at 9:30 a.m. at the Lockridge Drive and Dennis Avenue intersection. Be sure to bring gloves and wear sturdy shoes, long sleeves, and long pants. The rain date for our cleanup will be Sunday, 17 April.
After the cleanup, you can attend a large rally for all of the volunteers from all of the cleanup sites in the Anacostia watershed. It will be held at the Bladensburg Waterfront Park, Bladensburg, Maryland, at 1:00 p.m. There will be food, speeches, and music performances from In Process — an a capella group who were trained by Sweet Honey and the Rock — plus dance performances by Gye Nyame African Cultural Dance Company.
