New Sidewalks, At Long Last!

In early August, county contractors began installing sidewalks on Lorain, Sutherland, and Eastwood Avenues.  First requested by NFCCA in 1998 and renewed in 2000, the sidewalks were again delayed by this summer’s record rainfall.  Once the skies cleared, work proceeded rapidly.

The construction appears to be substantial, with solid curbs, driveway aprons, and corner ramps, with small retaining walls where needed.

Shortly after the cement cured, neighbors tried the sidewalks out.  Two little girls on scooters gave their thumbs-up to the Lorain Avenue sidewalk.

Thanks to everyone in the NFCCA and neighborhood who supported the campaign to install the sidewalks.  Our neighborhood is a safer place to walk now!   ■
